DAC 2025 Programme

Launch of the National Celebrations

9th June 2025

Bungoma County will play host to the National Celebrations of the launch of the Day of the African Child (DAC) on June 9, 2025, in an event expected to draw national attention to child welfare and education initiatives.

The Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Services, Dr. Alfred Mutua, is set to preside over the commemorations, which will mark a significant moment in the national child rights calendar.

Bungoma was selected as the host county by the National Council for Children Services (NCCS) owing to Governor Kenneth Lusaka’s exemplary leadership in advancing early childhood education and strengthening child protection frameworks across the region.

This year’s celebrations are expected to spotlight Bungoma’s model programmes in early childhood development, community-based child welfare initiatives, and school enrolment drives.
