Launch of the Day of the African Child , 2024
In a bid to address the pressing issue of access to education for children across the African continent, the National Council for Children Service (NCCS) orchestrated a commemoration of the Launch for Day of the African Child themed "Education for All Children in Africa." The event, which took place today, at Ithookwe primary school Kitui West Sub-County saw a gathering of policymakers, educators, activists, and community members all advocating for the fundamental right of every child to receive quality education.
With Africa facing numerous challenges in providing adequate education, the Launch served as a platform to amplify the voices calling for change. Speaking at the event, Mr Sophia Abdi Noor, the Chief Executive Officer- National Council for Children Services, emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, "The time is now" to ensure that every child in Africa has access to quality education. Education is not just a privilege but a basic human right that must be upheld."
With collective determination and concerted action, the Government and Partners remain committed to ensure retention of children in school and realizing the vision of "Education for All Children in Africa," ensuring all brighter and more prosperous future for generations to come.
